Plans

On the King’s Road

Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain. Psalm 127:1

Celebrating Knock’s 150 year anniversary we are reminded that our current buildings are thanks to work undertaken by previous generations.  However, the last major investment was some 60 years ago and many of the buildings are in much need of repair and aren’t fit for modern day purposes.

The vision is to create new buildings and inviting spaces, welcoming to all, where God’s love is shared.

The project involves all the buildings, apart from the main sanctuary, and includes a mixture of refurbishment, demolition and new build.

Images of the proposed plans are shown below but in brief the intention is to:

Refurbish – the Burrows Hall and reconfigure the Church Office and music room, with a sizable upgrade to the Kairos Centre.

Demolish and new build – the Crush Hall, Elliott Hall, kitchen and Bell Hall

Reconfigure – the car park and external spaces.

Space Benefits

The new building will give us new central communal spaces, visible welcoming entrances, appealing presence on both Kings Road and Knock Road, interconnecting spaces, multi-functional accommodation enabling a range of uses, reduced operating overheads and maintenance costs, safe useable external spaces and fully accessible accommodation.

The building project will create a modern and sustainable suite of buildings that will enable present and future generations to experience and witness to the joy of the gospel at Knock. As well as visibly welcoming spaces that reach out and draw people in from across the community to experience kingdom living.

Funding strategy

The work is estimated at £4.7 million plus bank interest, bringing the total cost in the region of £5.7m.

Having successfully achieved planning approval for the ‘On the King’s Road’ project in March 2022, we are asking the congregation to prayerfully consider if they can support the project financially.  In order to progress to the next stage we need to get personal commitments totally £2.5m.  We understand this is a large ask, particularly in todays challenging economic climate.  However, every contribution helps whether big or small; whether a one off or a monthly regular donation.  If you aren’t in a position to financially support the project your prayer support is very important and gratefully received.

If you are interested in providing financial support for the ‘On the King’s Road’ project, either via monthly giving and/or a one off donation please contact the Church Office email:  office@knockpresbyterian.co.uk or Click here for further information on how to donate.
