Men at work!

‘Unless the Lord builds the house the builders labour in vain.’ Psalm 127:1

Work continues apace with the church building project.

Hugh J O’Boyle, building contractors who have significant experience in conservation work, are progressing well with the restoration work to the main church.  This includes stonework restoration, repairs to window framing, new storm glazing, flat roof replacement, new rainwater goods, re-slating of ancillary roofs and upgrading of entrance porches. Some work to the interior of the building is also required and therefore from Sunday 28 October to Sunday 25 November services will be held in the Elliott Hall.

Unfortunately there will also be some disruption around the church site during the work. The contractor will be using the area along the Kings Road side of the church for their accommodation and may require other areas of the car park for storage. This will result in a temporary reduction in car parking, a good reason to walk or cycle to church for those who can.

Key things to know:

  • A Master Plan will be developed looking at the whole site, outlining what development is required and offering phased solutions
  • The initial budget is £2.5m (including fees, contract work, fit-out, contingency and VAT
  • £500,000 of this has been allocated to the restoration work
  • The project is estimated to take 5 years

Personal donations form a substantial proportion of our overall funding for the project. If you would like to give to the project you can do so by setting up a monthly standing order (please contact Stephen Curragh or Church Office) or by making a donation by way of the striped envelopes marked ‘Building Fund’.

The Property Development Group would like to thank everyone who has fed into the project to date. We are keen to ensure everyone has an opportunity for input and to hear from as many users as possible. If you have any comments please submit these using the online form or simply talk to any member of the group directly.
