Funds & Bursaries

GRANTS AND BURSARIES

The congregation has three funds from which grants and bursaries may be offered to members.  These are (i) the Mission Support Fund, (ii) the Albert Bell, Paul Gray & John Donaldson Memorial Fund and (iii) the Benevolant Fund.  The purpose of each fund, and the application procedure, is set out below.

THE MISSION SUPPORT FUND

Purpose

This fund exists to provide financial support for mission activity and mission personnel.  Payments may be made to missionaries, missionary candidates and bible college candidates; and to those who have been accepted onto recognised short-term mission schemes.  Payments may also be made towards costs arising from the implementation of formal partnership arrangements or other mission activity approved by the Kirk Session.

Application procedure

The application procedure is set out in the Kirk Session’s Mission Policy Document.  Potential applicants should in the first instance discuss their plans with the Minister and/or the Convener of the Mission Sub-committee.

THE ALBERT BELL, PAUL GRAY & JOHN DONALDSON MEMORIAL FUND

Purpose

The fund resulted from the amalgamation of two separate funds and it has a two-fold purpose.  It exists (i) to promote Christian education and training among members of the congregation aged up to 25 years; and (ii) to provide financial assistance to individuals (of any age) or organisations undertaking activities that contribute to the development of areas of ministry within the congregation.

THE BENEVOLENT FUND

Purpose

This fund exists to meet exceptional personal need.  Its administration is solely in the hands of the Minister and all applications are treated in the strictest confidence.
